Yes, I know I’ve been gone a long time.
I’m generally nowhere to be found. My presence on the internet is essentially zero — not to say it’s gone into the negative.
More than once I’ve sat for a while in front of a blank virtual page, struggling to begin. Writing is what I love; writing is what I do. Writing is what makes me happy and gives me extra purpose whenever I don’t know where I am or what I’m doing. And I haven’t been able to write for a long time now.
This year has been — and still is — completely turbulent. All sorts of things have happened. Whether I even want or need to write about all of it, I’m honestly not sure. A million times I’ve caught myself thinking about the blog, wanting to write, feeling guilty for not finding the time. And then when those few moments of “free” time do arrive, my hands just won’t start typing. My head is completely blank.
I’m in no position to motivate anyone right now, because I face what is almost a daily need — or struggle — to motivate myself. And I don’t want to come here and complain about the countless circumstances pressing down on me, because that’s not who I am.
I’m not someone who moans and complains.
That’s why I’ve been gone. That’s why it’s easier to write a lot of things down on paper — to get them out of my system so they stop weighing on me — but then lock that paper in a drawer so it never sees the light of day. Not just for others — I don’t want to read it again myself.
And no — I’m not advocating for suppressing emotions! I simply believe that nobody is obliged to listen to other people’s problems without urgent reason. There’s enough negativity around us as it is, without me adding to it with complaints. Not a chance.
We all have highs and lows — in mood and in life. Sometimes you just have to know where the line is between sharing something that might genuinely help someone, and moaning for the sake of it.
We’re healthy and we’re together. That’s what matters most.
Family comes first. And everything else will sort itself out, because we sort everything out together.
What’s Actually the Problem With S-Mama?
No, it’s not the two jobs, the bureaucracy, the constant upheaval — and certainly not the fact that I have a wonderful family alongside all of that. For the things I love doing, I always somehow find time. The problem is quite simple:
I’m no longer a student. And this is a blog about student life with a family — first and foremost with a child.
So what now? Do I look back on the old days and cover all the topics I never got around to writing about while I was studying? Do I keep writing the blog but change its direction entirely?
I don’t know yet, and that’s exactly what’s been bothering me.
So I’m Asking for Your Help
It would mean the world to me if you could take a few minutes and leave your “wishes” for this blog in the comments or by email. Should S-Mama carry on as an (ex-)student mama — or should I move toward other topics? What do you love reading here most?
That would mean a great deal to me and my team.
I want to keep writing — and to do that, I need a clear picture of what to write about.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Warmly,
S-Mama
